let's not do the limbo
Some of my latest hobbies have been organizing my art spaces, and I came across a lot of my old ATC's, or Artist Trading Cards that I made several years ago when I was huge on the altered art kick.
It's always so cool to go back and see the things that I created still existing somewhere!
Also, while I was at work, I came across this book by Bernie Berlin. I own a few cards of Bernie's and I was so excited to see that she wrote a book about ATC's! I bought the book and immediately felt the need to make a card. The book is so full of neat ideas and great techniques. I can't wait to try them out. So pretty soon, you'll probably see more art here.
Lately I have just kept the doodles to my journal. But, I'm kinda feeling the need to make art again.
Not that knitting isn't art! Knitting is such an art! I joined up with Ravelry and I feel like such a small fish in the huge open sea of knitters! So many women (and some men) who know so much about the craft! I'm such a noob still! (Warcraft terms leaking thru)
I had 6 FO's in the past month. (FO's are Finished Objects). And usually this is the hardest time for me to pick up my knitting or crocheting again. I want to say I'm taking a break from it...but it's not really stressful, it's fun. But, I have a harder time starting projects, than finishing them. So I was in limbo until I went to my muse. Michael's! I love that freaking store. I love every single aisle. Even the craft foam aisle! haha.
I found a fabulous knitting mag called Knit1 by Vogue. It has TONS of really useable patterns in it. So far I have restrained from buying any knitting magazines for the reason that they seem limited to a certain type of person's build. (i.e. Skinny girls) But, most of the patterns in this particular magazine seem to be written for several different sizes and shapes! Which of course, made me buy it.
My search for the "perfect shrug" seems to be in this magazine. It's called a "bolero" and is patterned in a lovely moss green. (I love green as much as I love pink!) So we'll see if this item comes to fruition on my needles. I have yet to knit an item of clothing, other than my one sock that is sadly stuck on my dpns(double pointed needles). I got as far as the heel...and limbo hit!
There is also a "carpet bag" purse type pattern that I casted on this morning. I am thinking of gifting this item when I finish it. Mostly because I don't think I would actually carry a purse that is as big as this one will end up. (pictures soon!) All in all, I'm pretty excited to have just found some new things to create that aren't going to break my budget. This is a little image heavy today, but I love that summer is coming. The girls look so incredibly cute in "sungoggles". (Kaitlyn's word.)
