spooling around...

One of the best things about getting that Knit1 mag is that it semi-satisfied my craving for new patterns. I am beginning to see the light when it comes to my 'yarn' temptations. I love the yarn. I like shopping for yarn, I like touching it, smelling it, and buying it. But, in not the usual fashion of yarnlovers, I adore getting new patterns. Whenever, I find any book on crochet or knitting, I scour the pages looking for a new pattern! I'm totally in love with this pattern for the carpet bag I'm knitting. It's mostly just a ho-hum pillar stitch for a whole 26 inches!! But, I love it anyway.
I also caved in at work and bought the "Happy Hooker" book by Debbie Stoller. The tongue in cheek chapter titles of Debbie's books, always have me in 'stitches'! (oh forgive my puns oh Lord.) She has the most fantastic patterns for crochet. One of the reasons I left my first love, crochet, was because the patterns all seem very 'vintage' and 'granny' styled. This book has a load of patterns that are fresh and so modern. My next cast on will most likely be another purse. A girl can never have too many of those! (unlike scarves. Hiss my closet!)

I was going to post a picture of my progress on my carpet bag. But alas! It's all black and VERY hard to photograph. The stitches look like tiny black pearls in the real life...but it does not show up as well in picture form. I will attempt to take a better photo for you. It's sooo lovely this far!

Here is a picture of a purchase I made from Michael's the other night when I was feeling a little crafty. You will have to just wait and see what they'll become. I love that these raw looking spools will one day be something you will be like 'oh wow!'...but right now you are not at all in awe of my spools.
A little like God oh yeah? Yeah. He sees the beauty in us that might look like ordinary, plain, simple, raw peoples like us. We walk around thinking we're just 'here'...but all along He sees something so different!

As an artist, I can see things from a creator's point of view and see the humble beginnings and how things will all turn out beautiful and shiny in the end. :) It's the waiting that always kills me...even as a creator!! I'm just dying to get my hands on these spools...so I best jet.

Peace up!
