a whole huge mouthful of words at the same time!

I told myself that it wouldn't be a month before I blogged another post, and alas! I made it! Not quite a month, but still. Things look stale around here. heh.

It would behoove me to write down all the things I wanted to blog about and then slowly spill them out here. Material to write with is never really lacking. Interesting material however, seems to only pop up in waves! :D

First off, I have been doing an insane amount of learning and knitting. Yes, both of those! Learning and knitting. I am a self taught everything knitter grrl! But, that means I usually have to find the right book, resource or video to teach me a new concept when I'm ready to learn it. Finding books isn't so hard, but sometimes it's just not enough.
My latest challenge was learning fair isle and intarsia knitting. I have been simply dying to know how to do this! I found several books that gave simple instructions, but I realized that they were probably too simple and I just could not figure it out. So I went to knittinghelp.com. They have fantastic videos and if you're like me, the audio video learning style is the way I learn best.

Honestly, it took me around 4 days of ripping out my stitches, my hair and trying to not swear over yarn to actually 'get' the method right.

Obviously, my knitting tends to be on the nerdy side. :D But, I did it! Kaitlyn asked me what kind of knitting it was, and I told her it was kind of like picture knitting. You know, making images, or in my case for starters, words! But, she liked to refer to it as messy knitting.

She has a really good point!! It's a good thing you can hide the other side. This piece will probably end up a wrist/sweatband for when I go workout. I think I'm adding a nice cotton backing and a few snaps.

As for finished objects, I made two caps for my son and my husband. They're similiar in size weirdly enough, but I made Daniel's in navy and my husband's in black.

I didn't take a picture of the shawl I was making for my mom for Mother's Day. It was crocheted, but still! I put a lot of love and hooking into it. I know the reason I didn't take a picture was because I was afraid she would see it before I gifted it. I have made it a new credo that I will take pictures of all my projects before I give them away.
Last picture is of my shawl that I'm actually making for me! I got the pattern out of the Lion Brand's Just Scarves book. My moms was similiar in style, but of course hers was turquoise and mine is in pink! (i <3 style="font-style: italic;">work. Yes. Work. I joined the fray and got a part time job at a local bookstore. I love, love, love it there so far. The people are great and I get a discount on books while everything in the air smells of coffee! Who could ask for more? Not me. (...thinking about my stint at McDonalds. Ew)
Anyhow, the extra money is always welcome at home. Not to mention somehow this job fills my craving for hanging out with people. lol.

Take care, hopefully it won't be so long til I blog again.
Peace. Out.
