LYS and society
If I were to write down everything in my mind that I wanted to blog about, you would be here for a long time reading the longest blog post ever. hehe. However, it seems that once I sit down my mind goes simply blank and I stare at the screen. I look around at the flower pattern on my blue curtains...and I ask Tony's big blue eyes, "what was Mommy going to blog about?" He usually tips his head to the side and comes to kiss my chin.
Yesterday was an extraordinarily busy day for me. It seems that my whole week schedule builds up to Fridays and having everything 'set' for the weekend. I mean 'set' as in, the house is clean enough to survive 2 days of no cleaning, plenty of snacks, all our meals for 2 days, church clothes clean, pressed, ready to go, and any bills or errands that I needed to get done before Monday finished.
So, I spent a lot of time yesterday away from my puppy dog and out in the wide, wide world we know as Post Falls.
For the past few months I have been a lone knitster. No one to play with!! But, I just so happened upon not just one, but TWO Yarn shops yesterday. Oh-my-goodness. I felt like I had died and gone to some sort of wool heaven. So many beautiful yarns, and NEEDLES. This particular yarn shop offers classes and 'society'. I love society. *sigh*
I also love watching my daughters in action. They are 4 and 5 now, and sooo verbal about any topic you throw at them. They conversed with the ladies at the yarn shop like grown up ladies would. They talked about how wonderful this shop was, and oh isn't it great how many colors you have here?! I especially love when they refer to me like I'm not standing right there. "Yes, our mother knits. She knits ALOT. But, you know, she especially loves to make scarves. There are like a trillbillion in her closet that has she made. But it's silly because she can only wear one at a time!" Jolie then chuckles like my antics are that of a little kid.
In true crafty person fashion I also took it upon myself to make my own knitting needles. I adore wooden needles, so I cut up some dowel sticks to size, and had my husband sharpen them. After a few hours of sanding, I have gorgeous wooden needles for like...a dollar. lol. I took this venture even further by buying some polymer clay and fashioning my own 'ends' to my needles. They look super fantastic. I love that you can make nice things for cheap if you are just willing to put in some elbow grease...yeah, that is saying my elbows are tired!! Too much sanding. hehe.
Next week I plan to visit my family, so that meant everyone had to get haircuts yesterday as well. That wasn't too much of a problem since we are blessed with a spectacular children's hair salon. The kids love going there, but it's still time consuming to go in and get 3 people their haircut one at a time.
Walmart is always so freakishly busy any day of the week here, but I think I have discovered that Thursday mornings are the least busy...so I'll be doing my weekend shopping a day earlier from now on! It's just insane. The traffic with the cars in the parking lot and the traffic in the store with the carts. :) I saw 3 sets of mother/daughters talking to their cell phones instead of each other while they were in the store. I made a mental note to not let my daughters talk to their cell phones instead of me while we're in the store. I love shopping and the social-ness of it. Eheh.
I would bore you with more details of my yarn and shopping adventures, but I think I'm going to go play some with my kiddos. Have a good weekend!
Pillowfarmer. Out.
