Lots of Love

My youngest daughter, Jolie has been growing her hair out since she was 3 years old. She's enthralled by stories of Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty. Both of these stories involve princesses with long hair. Jolie adores her hair and is probably a little vain over this 'crowning glory' of hers.

Recently we came across an article on auto-immune diseases. These diseases often result in hair loss in children. Jolie was horrified at the thought of someone, particulary another girl losing her hair to a sickness. Shortly after, we caught an episode of Oprah Winefry cutting Hilary Swank's long hair. Hilary Swank was donating her hair Pantene's Beautiful Lengths. Beautiful Lengths is an organization that provides wigs for women who have undergone chemotherapy.

Both of us were deeply touched as we watched Hilary get her hair chopped off at the neck! Jolie's eyes were like saucers! haha. After that she decided that once her own ponytail got to the recommended 10 inches she would cut it and donate it to Locks of Love.

However, being only 5, she only heard it as "Lots" of love. Which is really accurate, because Jolie loves her hair! For her to grow it out, then cut it off to be given away, well, it made my momma heart SO proud. I'm thankful for Jolie and the lesson she's taught me about showing love.
