it's a gunney pig!
Here is Jolie with 'Mema's nyunning'. Definitely showing signs of age and wear don'tcha see?
Of course, it used to be a pillowcase on a standard sized pillow, but it started to fall apart at the seams from all the loving and nyunning it's received. :)
The colors are very similar to what the quilted version has. She was pretty specific about wanting purple in there...so when we went to Michael's to pick out her yarn, she jumped all over the Simply Soft Brites from Caron. I was hesistant about buying her acrylic yarn, I wanted a cotton blend or a washable wool. (seeing as how hardy a nyunning must be to survive around here!)Right now I'm in what most knitters call, Stockingnette Hell. haha.
However, Stockingnette for me is often paradise. I can knit and purl without looking and since the rows are so long, I only have to pay attention to what I'm doing along the sides/edges...which is about 12 stitches total. Perfect for watching movies, House and or Heroes...or Survivor! Wheee! Right now, I'm loving making this. I figure I'm about 1/8 of the way thru. I want it to be an actual toddler/throw sized blanket, so we have a ways to go!
The best part of making this is that Jolie loves it already. She asks if I can sit and knit so she can nyun while we watch Martha in the afternoons. hehe. She holds the end I'm not knitting on and we sit and count how many times Martha says, 'good thing'. hehe.
PS. My bolero is currently sleeping in my yarn box. I think it's tired of me. :(
