Hard knocks for the T
My dog Tony has been going thru the wringer! Not the hard kind, but the kind that keeps me on my toes.
I bought Tony in January. He's been the joy and the exasperation of my life! I'm determined to stick out his first year with us, because already he's a fantastic friend and dog. It's tough tho. Because whereas most people will say, "you love your kids even when they have accidents, you can love your dog."
I think this is lame reasoning because yeah, my kids have peed on me. And I'm not going to give them away because of it...but I realized that I took the time to train my kids and show them how and where to do their business.
Taking that time for your dog is really no different...and mostly dogs are smarter than your average 2 year old. At least my chihuahua is smarter than most children.
I bought a book on training small dogs. I figured as a small guy, he probably does see things differently and feels differently than a labrador puppy. It's been good so far because he's learning so fast and I'm being consistent.
Here's a picture of him posing for the camera. Before I started training him, he wouldn't sit still for a second so I could snap a picture. Now he's calm and looking right at the camera. He's so smart!!
