Don't Forget To Be Awesome

I'm a huge fan the Ukulele. I have been playing for about 65 days now! When I first decided to buy a uke and learn to play it, I decided I was not going to accessorize out like I normally do with my hobbies. You know...where you go out and buy every single gadget and notion that goes with that particular new passion? Then sometimes it doesn't take and you're left with a buncha stuff you never use! So I held off.

As of right now, I don't even own a gig bag or a case for my fairly expensive Ukulele. However, after playing worship and doing special music at my mom's Mother's Day banquet at her church, I realized I need a strap! I checked for some online...but as I have an ovation type uke...straps can be difficult. I thought about installing a strap button so I can maybe have various straps depending on my mood, but the rounded back on my uke doesn't allow for that.

So I improvised for now and knitted myself a lovely little classic guitar strap. There is a tutorial on Ukulele Underground on how to make a "ghetto" strap out of a lanyard. I didn't have a lanyard lying around, so I knitted one.

I couldn't use yarn either! Because it's too stretchy and I need something that would hold fast. So it was a first knitting with a vinyl/acrylic plasticky type craft string. It's shiny so it sparkles quite nicely.

Total costs:
String- $3.49
Ring and Lanyard - $0.14
DFTBA - Priceless!!

I'm hoping to knit up some quick gifts for a few birthdays I have coming up. And I'm still knitting my nephew's baby blanket! So, lots on my needles these days. :)
