some bragging rights
The best part of having kids is being with them. They say the funniest things and do the weirdest faces sometimes. I don't know how many times in a day I laugh til' I cry because of something that my children say.
I didn't want this blog to always be a 'mommy' blog(nothing wrong with mommy blogs, just don't want mine to always be one. :), flooded with images of my sickeningly adorable and well-behaved kiddos.
I know! It's hard to imagine that my kids are so great. Most of you are like, 'yeah right.' But, it's true. I feel like my kids are the best. In some cases, if you compare mine to some kids, they ARE the best. hehe.
It's taken me a while to come to the full realization that my kids are worth bragging about. Bragging in the good sense. I give them a lot of high praise for the sweet things they do for each other and for us.
Looking back on each of their infanthoods and their toddler years, I realize that WE all worked so hard to make them into the semi-decent humans that they are today. It takes a lot of work to train your kids to be respectful, and to feel dignity among themselves that they can understand what honor and obedience is.
I'm not declaring that my kids are perfect, they're far from it, but there is that semblance of what is right and honorable in them. I love that about each of them.
What makes me think of all this is working in a place where I'm often surrounded by children with no sense of anyone existing but their own selves and their own desires. I understand that this is a lot how we as humans operate anyway, but it's so evident to me some days I just want to take all the kids I see home with me and show them that other side of joy. The joy of loving, serving and pleasing Someone better than themselves.
Above photo is of my three kiddos and the little guy in the ball cap is my nephew and our number one cousin Aston.
2 ppl with something to say:
I brag about your kids too. They have a big reputation to live up to....but we love them no matter what, right? :-) You're an awesome mom!
Hey, I thought bragging came with the job! ;) We love sickeningly adorable pictures!
